Thermo King and Frigoblock Highlighted the Future of Transport Refrigeration

Presenting a portfolio of diesel, hybrid and zero-emission all-electric products at Solutrans 2017, the Thermo King team demonstrated real solutions that answer today’s and tomorrow’s challenges in the refrigerated transport market in EMEA. And, with a focus on innovation, the venue proved to be the perfect opportunity to highlight the official launch of the SLXi Hybrid refrigerated trailer unit.

“Our portfolio of sustainable and intelligent products helps our customers to provide efficient refrigerated transportation in the inner city, low emission and low noise areas,” says Laurent Debias, Product Management leader at Thermo King and Frigoblock. “We have solutions to suit all transport refrigeration applications – from truck and trailer, to home delivery vans.”

Held in Lyon, France in late November 2017, Solutrans attracted more than 48,000 visitors and presented Thermo King with much opportunity to connect with customers, business partners and media. This included a press conference at the Thermo King booth where Michel Poinsignon, Trailer product manager for Thermo King EMEA, discussed Thermo King’s entire portfolio of sustainable and intelligent products including the SLXi Hybrid refrigerated units.

The event, which was conducted in both English and French, attracted 23 journalists representing eight countries and yielded many additional media interviews. More than 50 articles were published by French, Italian, Swiss, Dutch, Irish, Croatian, South African, UK and, Algerian trade media.

European Transport Award for Sustainability 2018

The SLXi Hybrid trailer refrigeration range, which will be commercially available in January, is already proving itself in the industry. The technology has been recognized for its innovative design and sustainability in reducing environmental impacts during refrigerated transport. The new range, which combines leading Thermo King and Frigoblock technologies, has won a European Transport Award for Sustainability 2018 in the category “vehicle cooling and heating systems.”

“We were pleased to be recognized for our climate-friendly solutions for transport refrigeration customers,” said Pauli Johannesen, vice president and general manager for Truck, Trailer and Bus at Thermo King in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “The SLXi Hybrid, which combines the technologies from both Thermo King and Frigoblock, is a perfect example from our extensive portfolio. It shows how we answer our customers’ demand for solutions that allow them to conduct their operations in a sustainable way. This new system gives them easier access to restricted, low-emission urban areas while lowering their environmental footprint and operating costs in the same time.”
